Umzamowethu, in the Eastern Cape, is full of talented youth. The Kouga Wind Farm & Masinyusane are unlocking that talent and empowering the youth to uplift their own community.
Listen to Jesmine describe the impact of the jobs on her family and the children she is working with everyday. She is one of ten youth working with over 200 children to ensure they get a quality education, discover and develop their talents, and grow towards realizing their incredible potential in life.
It's a truly remarkable story of empowering a community to uplift itself.
"This job has allowed me to earn an income, support my family, help the community children and be the role model I always knew I could be."
Masinyusane employs rigorous monitoring and evaluation systems. We assess children three times a year and track dozens of literacy metrics. These are then compared to control groups.

The following are some of the youth that the project employed. Each not only brings an income home to their family, but is investing hundreds of hours a year in uplifting the children in their own community's school and sports teams. They are a testament to how much potential can be unlocked within our South African communities.
KWF sponsors numerous sports and extra-curricular activities to foster the unique talents of the children at Sandwater Primary School.
The power of music has taken center stage in our program, inspiring 29 young voices to embark on an incredible journey. These budding musicians took part in their inaugural competition, the Kouga Mayoral Talent Show, held in Jeffreys Bay in April. This experience ignited their creativity, encouraging them to explore and embrace their musical talents. Filled with newfound confidence, they eagerly seek more opportunities to showcase their abilities.
Our netball team consists of 30 talented players hailing from different divisions. In 2023, they participated in competitions in Humansdorp. The team demonstrated remarkable skill and sportsmanship, competing against local primary schools in the area. In addition, they organized a successful fundraising event for their club, gaining valuable support from the community.
The passion for soccer runs deep within our programme. Our dedicated team of young players has already showcased their skills in two exhilarating matches held in Sea Vista. Their outstanding performance caught the attention of a primary school in Jeffreys Bay, earning them a coveted invitation to play. With 16 committed young athletes attending daily practice, their teamwork and dedication continue to shine.
Masinyusane and KWF believe in transparency. The community deserves to know how each Rand is spent. And the projects should be held accountable for achieving their goals and objectives.
